Calculators and saved data

The calculators run in your browser. The revenue, profit, asset, and payroll figures you type in are never sent to our server.

If you save companies to the dashboard or add guides to your reading list, they are stored in your browser's local storage, along with your light or dark theme setting. That data stays on your device. We can't see it, and we can't recover it for you. Clearing your browser's site data for statedues.com deletes it.

Deadline reminders

When you sign up for reminders, we receive your email address, the states you picked, and whether you want to hear when a guide is updated. We use that to send the reminders you asked for and nothing else.

Filing requests

The done-for-you filing form asks for your company name, entity type, email address, officer name, state file number, and the filing you want. We use these details to email you a quote, and, if you go ahead, to prepare and submit the filing.

Some of what goes into a state filing becomes public record. For example, annual reports in several states list officers or directors. That is the state's rule and applies whether you file through us or on your own.

Reminder signups and filing requests are sent from our server to the private workspace where we track them. Only the people who run StateDues can access it.

Company lookup

When you search for a company by name or file number, the search goes to our server and then to OpenCorporates or the SEC's public company list. Results are cached on our server for up to a day so repeat searches are faster. We don't link searches to the person who made them.

Analytics, cookies, and logs

We count page visits with Plausible Analytics. Plausible doesn't use cookies or store IP addresses. It shows us totals, such as how many people opened a page and which site sent them.

StateDues sets no cookies and runs no ad trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time) for security and debugging.

Partner links

Links to partners such as Mercury or Gusto add a utm_source=statedues tag to the address, so the partner can see that the visit came from us. We don't send partners your email address, your calculator inputs, or anything else about you. Once you're on their site, their privacy policy applies.

What we don't do

We don't sell personal information, share it with advertisers, or use it to build profiles. We only pass details to a state agency when you ask us to file something.

Seeing or deleting your information

To see what we hold about you, fix it, or delete it, email support@statedues.com from the address you signed up with. Reminder signups are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Filing requests are kept while the filing is in progress and afterward for our records, unless you ask us to delete them.

Children

StateDues is a tool for businesses. It isn't meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
